Hi Chris

We were very inspired by the neo realists and the new wave. The new camera technology freed us in the same way that the new technology freed those filmmakers. Neil has a great quote from thta time about beating the studios by filming on the street, and that's how it felt...TR

Hi Guys,
Read about Streetsweeper in The Australian and got excited to hear of your micro budget & shooting schedule. Now seen clips on your site and think it's a remarkable achievement. These are the kind of movies that really get me going. Have been a fan of this kind of film making since the French New Wave of the 60's. Had a go myself back in '76 with a low budget feature titled "Oz - A Rock'n'Roll Road Movie". Have done my share of micro-budget music clips too, eg: Daddy Cool's 'Eagle Rock'. Happy Trails, Chris.

Thanks for the great response. I had an unbelievably fantastic time at the festival and really enjoyed walking around Anchorage & meeting the friendly locals. All the names & faces have become a bit of a blur post the frenzy of coffee, films, snow, ice, beer, people... Yes, I am on Facebook, for the very reason you suggest, but there seems to be a lot of Neil Mansfields in the world: look for the photo of the streetsweeper's sandshoe &/or the word "Newcastle". We are also on you tube: streetsweeeperfilm and also on myspace... NM

Hi Neil,
Saw the movie tonight in Anchorage at the Bear Tooth. It was excellent. Great photography and substance. Keep up the good work and come back to Alaska. You may also want to get a page on Facebook if you're into such things. It's a good way to get the word about about the film and network since it's hard to find your blog. Just do it under your name and you'll be surprised how quick you can reach folks. Otherwise, enjoyed meeting you (at the Love and Pain session). Didn't mind the "c" word at all due to the context.

Congratulations to you and your team Neil. Well deserved. Am spreading the word via the usual suspects. Not surprised to hear the response from the Uber Agency or NSW FTO. Same response we got when we approached them about a bit of help to get to Asian Festival of First Films in Singapore last year with "Lockout", and also the same response, our director Jason van Genderen got when he was nominated (and ultimately won) Tropfest NY with Mankind is no Island this year.
Was also very disturbed and perplexed at your exclusion from this year's Dungog Film Festival. That was a real mystery.
Anyway, more power to you Neil - well done mate. Greg
