(Life in the Big Screen TV Age)

(Life in the Big Screen TV Age)

Thank You Mister Saunders.

Monday, May 4th, 2009

We have had some poster designs done for us by a bloke who does a load of film art for posters and the like. He is incredibly busy, but has generously done these roughs for us to develop. The bloke in question is Jeremy Saunders, who has a great website and whose work you will no doubt have seen about the place.

I have posted the three designs here, but I reckon we’ll use the black and white one, because it’s really striking and is going to be the best for our limited production style…. i.e. it’s black and white (ish!). That way I can make it when I need to…

I like them all, so here they are in their glory… remember though, that these are only sketches! TR

Alsakan Blogs and Australian Papers

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

We managed to make it onto the back page of the Australian today under the title “Poetry of the micro movie”, with an announcment about our award in Alsaka and with a vaguely inflamatory comment, which is good. Yesterday we got a mention in the Herald as “Street Sleeper” and also a spot on the news feed at IF magazine’s website

I’ve also been passed on a link to this Alaskan Blog called “What Do I Know?” which has some very interesting writing about seeing the film and the very nature of Streetsweeper as a different film experience.

“Streetsweeper can be seen as a visual concert. Just as the symphony is sounds without verbal content, this was a series of visual images (with the added sense of sound). In his visual composition, Mansfield challenges us to look at things so ordinary that they have become invisible.”

The blog also features a 15 minute clip of Neil as silouhette talking about the film. Thanks for the heads up go to Neil’s brother Alan… TR

Goin’ North to Alaska.

a message from Alaska

Monday, September 1st, 2008

We’ve had some good feedback from Anchorage Film Festival in Alaska. Although we’re not invited yet, it’s great to get some encouragement from foreign shores…

Hi Toby,

I thoroughly love every aspect of your film. You must be very proud of it. It’s completely mesmerizing and provoking. Every single frame is a stunning composition of light and movement, and the poetry feels profound. The world sure could use more movies like Streetsweeper.

Please give my regards to Neil and Marin, and I’ll get back to you soon.

Tony

It may be that our film will have a further life in festivals after all!

Streetsweeper – The Tour

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Salutations Sweeperettes

The time has come for Streetsweeper to go on tour.

We want to screen our film to as many folks as we can from Brisbane to Adelaide come September.

Are there any independent cinemas left?

If so we want to know about them. We also want to find any other great alternative screening venues you may know of…

Also – if anyone has any connections at universities or colleges who may be interested, put us in touch.

The more tips and local knowledge you have for us, the better. Visit the forum and leave us a message

thanking youse…

projection, rejection, objection…

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

It’s Sunday morning & I set the alarm clock so I could get up early-ish cos I’ve got a lot of writing about the film to do, and I’m feeling a bit guilty about my work ethic. You might have noticed that Toby (”TR” below: we share writing duties on this site), after working long hard days, has been posting very late at night & doing everything he can to give the film a good chance at finding its audience, locally & abroad. So, he has been sending off applications for film festivals left, right & centre: which till now (except for Perth: which was great fun!) have been coming back negative, but that’s okay, we’re confident this will change cos, so far, the early applications were based on rough unfinished versions of the film. [We prob'ly could have held off entering any festivals until the film was fully finished, now, but then we wouldn't have got into Perth & we were/are hoping to find some more pro-active supporters out there. Anyway...] Now we can send out the film with more confidence. Meanwhile, I will be piecing together some written support material & press kit stuff based on a hundred half-arsed documents on my desk top… Nm
